  40. Andrew, I was simply repeating what Ken B of Atari said in an earlier post.
  41. That *SOME* Mega ST2s can NOT be upgraded to 4 megabytes. Also, when I had
  42. Henry add the extra 2 megs of RAM chips to my early 1988 vintage Mega ST2 last
  43. Spring I asked John Townsend and others at Atari what the repair/replacement
  44. policy is for such machines. The *OFFICIAL* Atari policy is that a Mega ST2
  45. that comes in for repair/replacement leaves with EXACTLY two megs of RAM
  46. even if it came in with 4 megs. There is *NO* *OFFICIAL* way to upgrade a
  47. Mega ST2 to 4 megs and still be supported by Atari. Ask John Townsend or
  48. someone else at Atari if you don't believe me.

  50. As far as some megas not being upgradable, my local dealer has sold some of
  51. them. I believe my local dealer. On the other hand, the latest 520STs are
  52. very easy to upgrade. You just add 1/4 RAM chips to bump to 1 meg, or 1 meg
  53. RAM chips to bump to 2.5 megs. Very easy with the NEW 520STs. Very
  54. *UNOFFICIAL* of course!!

  74. Hey, do you know what those VT100 carts are great for?? Pirates use them for
  75. making ripoff carts!! But they lack the fancy gold plating of a real
  76. cart, but you gets what you pays for!

  103. What ad campaign?  The only ads I know about are the Portfolio ads in
  104. magazines and newspapers and the great Lynx ads in the New York area.  I
  105. know a few dealers are taking advantage of Atari's co-op advertising,
  106. but I've only heard about them in Texas and, I think, North Carolina.

  139. If you have Unix, you can get TeX for free. If you have an ST, you can
  140. get TeX for free. If you ASKED, probably someone would gladly print
  141. you a copy of the FORM docs. If you throw shit on them, however, they
  142. might not want to do it...

  225.         I was wondering if the author of FORM could fill us in on FORM.
  226. In the readme file it says that the PD version is missing a few
  227. features.  Are any of these missing features contained in the document
  228. or is the (huge!) document consistent with the first version of FORM?
  229.         I am interested in how long it took to write FORM and what inspired
  230. the author to write such a package?

  251. I have managed to dig out the fix that Simon Poole posted a while ago
  252. for the dialer bug in UniTerm 2.0e. Here it is:

  254. If the `Retries' filed in the dialer setup dialog is set to 0 or nothing,
  255. the dialer can not be aborted. Fix by:
  256.  
  257.         - setting `Retries' to one (this utilizes another bug, that the
  258.           number is actually the total number of tries),
  259. or
  260.  
  261.         - patch the 2.0e 004 executable:
  262.  
  263.           Byte (decimal)    2.0e 004             005
  264.           44995             52 (Dec) (34 Hex) -> 53 (Dec) (35 Hex)

  267.           This will increase the edit number to five and fix both
